IFAS 2018 serves up a concentrated dose of expertise

Forum programme based on the motto “going into the future safely and securely”

Exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products and services at IFAS, the trade fair for the healthcare market. The Forum will also play host to presentations and panel discussions on current issues in healthcare. This year, the programme will be running under the motto “going into the future safely and securely”. The IFAS Innovation Challenge, which will be held for the first time, has received 51 submissions. We can look forward to discovering which outstanding idea will take first prize on 25 October.

This year, the IFAS Forum will be highlighting various aspects of a successful and safe healthcare system. Patient and data security, reliability of care, the safe implementation of IT projects and the investment security relating to this will be carefully examined. One topic that could fill up an entire evening on its own is the new EU regulations on medical devices (MDR) and in vitro diagnostics (IVDR), which are presenting great challenges for the medical technology sector. Presentations, progress reports and panel discussions will shed light on this complex issue. A range of presentations concerning the quality of life and living for the elderly or sick will be held as part of the “Hospitality in Healthcare” special exhibition.  Show Director Heinz Salzgeber has high praise for the top-class programme set up by IG eHealth for the forum: “It conveys the latest knowledge, shines the spotlight on controversial issues and offers the opportunity for people to expand their own network”.

IT sector fills an entire hall

IFAS is on target with more than 330 exhibitors having signed up already. In line with the current trend, the IT sector is going to be particularly well represented: “Hall 7 is fully booked up to the very last stand space” explains Heinz Salzgeber. The fields of medical technology, sport, fitness and physiotherapy are also attracting attention with an encouragingly high presence. The CareFair careers fair will be putting forward a broad range of businesses. Major employers in the industry such as the cantonal hospitals of Basel-Landschaft and St. Gallen and retirement centres in the city of Zurich have also signed up. CareFair is a prestigious platform for job seekers and employers to get to know one another on an informal basis.

Special exhibition explores life in old age

The “Hospitality in Healthcare” special exhibition on the subject of “quality of life in old age” is one of the proven highlights of IFAS. Eight exhibitors will present their innovations, which will primarily appeal to decision-makers from homes, rehab clinics and hospitals. After all, the new generation of elderly people is characterised by nuanced living situations and lifestyles – they therefore have individual needs when it comes to comfort, care and security.

51 submissions for innovation prize

The IFAS Innovation Challenge, a competition for start-ups from the healthcare sector that will be held for the first time as part of IFAS this year, has got off to a successful start. Salzgeber is delighted that “51 start-ups have submitted dossiers”. A panel of judges will nominate the top ten submissions, which will then have the chance to showcase their product or service at IFAS. The award ceremony will take place at the IFAS trade fair on the afternoon of Thursday, 25 October 2018.
