16.02.2016 PRODEX and SWISSTECH 2016 – twice the trade fair clout for the MEM industry

twice the trade fair clout for the MEM industry

From 15 to 18 November 2016 the PRODEX and SWISSTECH trade fairs will once again be showcasing the entire range of the MEM industry. You will not find more technology and competence anywhere else in the Swiss industrial sector than during these days at Messe Basel.

In 2016, Basel will once again be the stage for Switzerland’s biggest and most important industrial trade fairs. PRODEX – the International Exhibition for Machine Tools, Tools and Production Measurement – and SWISSTECH – the International Exhibition for Materials, Components and System Assembly – welcomed nearly 53,000 trade visitors in all over the four days in 2014.

High production and wage costs and the ongoing strength of the Swiss franc are putting the MEM sector under no little pressure. Increasing efficiency and optimising business operations pose a major challenge to healthy growth. The unbeatable team of trade fairs will be focusing on the topic of Industry 4.0 and showcasing the new technologies, processes, machinery and innovative products that are needed to compete on the Swiss and international markets.  As before, the combined clout of these twin fairs will be complemented by additional events such as the young professional day on 15 November, a variety of workshops and presentations, the special show “Professional 3D Printing” and the 2016 PRODEX Award ceremony.

Realistic process chains

This year too, PRODEX will be all about production efficiency and rigorously optimising value flows. It will give trade visitors from purchasing, procurement, manufacturing and production a clear, nuanced overview of the entire production chain in the MEM industry. Instead of presenting products and services in separate subject areas, it will show all the production processes in practical end-to-end process chains. In collaboration with its sponsorship partners Swissmem and tecnoswiss, PRODEX offers a unique environment for this.

Close to the market, Close to the customer

SWISSTECH gives visitors a complete overview in terms of materials, machinery and machine parts, tool making, heat and surface treatments, standard parts and technical products, system construction and technical infrastructure services. The highly successful special show “Professional 3D Printing” will be run again in 2016. SWISSTECH is the ideal place for suppliers, purchasers and decision-makers to come together, as reflected not least in the high calibre of visitors it attracts.

The 2016 PRODEX Award – the Swiss technology award

The PRODEX Award, the most prestigious Swiss technology prize for top international achievements in the field of manufacturing and production, will be presented for the fifth time in collaboration with trade fair organisers Exhibit & More Ltd and Vogel Business Media Ltd. The deadline for entries is 30 June 2016. The ten best products or processes will be selected by a panel made up of experts representing universities and industry associations as well as Schweizer Maschinenmarkt magazine and its French-language counterpart MSM. President of Swissmem, Mr Hans Hess, will give the opening address at the prize-giving ceremony at 5.00 p.m. on Thursday, 17 November.

Two fairs, one ticket = more technology

Basel is the most important meeting point and market place within the MEM industry. A combined ticketing system saw PRODEX and SWISSTECH welcome nearly 53,000 trade visitors across the four exhibition days in 2014. When November 2016 rolls around, it will once again be safe to say that you will not find more technology anywhere in Switzerland.
